I wanted to share my notes from a lecture I recently attended called “Ramadan like never before”
Ramadan like never before!
What to do before Ramadhan:
-Cleanse the heart
-Schedule in Ramadan
Repent for your laziness
Write down your 3 weaknesses in regards to laziness and work on improving them.
(e.g., too much time on social media, too much time spent on phone,
being late for salah, not saying morning/evening adhkar etc..)
Allah swt loves when His servant prays on time.
Abdullah bin Masood (RA) said: I asked Allah’s Messenger ﷺ (peace be upon him), “Which action is most beloved to Allah (subhana wa taala)?” He said, “Establishing prayer on time, honouring one’s parents and Jihad in the cause of Allah.”
Every salah on time! Try your very best to pray 10-15 min max after adhan!
Laziness is a sign of hypocrisy
“And when they stand up for Salah, they stand with laziness”
Perfect your salah/enjoy salah/slow down during salah
View salah like you are talking to Allah (subhana wa taala)
Take time saying the adhkar during salah, contemplating on the words
Tawbah from being negligent of remembering Allah (subhana wa taala).
The people of Jannah have one regret… They regret the times on earth that went by without mentioning Allah (subhana wa taala).
Cleanse the heart
If you have a beef with someone, solve it for the sake of Allah (subhana wa taala). Now before Ramadhan is the perfect time!
Every deed is lifted on Mondays and Thursday’s except for those that are fighting. It will be on hold until they resolve their issue.
Schedule in Ramadhan
Try your very best to stay awake after fajr until salat adhuha. The reward of this is an accepted Umrah and Hajj.
Imagine finishing Ramadhan with 30 Umrahs and Hajj!! Allahu Akbar!
Best time for morning adhkar
Best time for evening adhkar
Add reading of Tafseer to your Ramadhan Schedule
Ustad Baajoor recommends reading 1 aya of Tafseer of Surah Mulk every day of Ramadan (surah Mulk has 30 ayats)
Very important! Don’t forget to say the Duaa for leaving the house
Another beautiful duaa to always say:
رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَعَلَيَّ وَعَلَى وَالِدَيَّ وَأَنْ أَعْمَلَ صَالِحًاتَرْضَاهُ وَأَصْلِحْ لِي فِي ذُرِّيَّتِي إِنِّي تُبْتُإِلَيْكَ وَإِنِّي مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ
Say the following duaa for yourself and for your children in every sajda.
“يا مقلب القلوب ثبت قلبي على دينك”
Before Fajr (but after you eat suhoor)
Sit for 5 min and dedicate it for saying istighfar
Don’t only say AstagfuruAllah, also say the master of istighfar…
And right before Iftar, dedicate time to ask Allah (subhana wa taala) to save your neck from hellfire.
You can even put a reminder on your phone so you don’t forget since that is a very hectic time and your mind is usually focused on counting down for the food!
Don’t miss barakah of suhoor, especially since this will be the longest fasting time in some parts of the world!
You should always give Sadaqah but especially in Ramadan, give more! Every single day, even if only a pound!
Don’t let one day go by without giving sadaqah this Ramadhan.
Pick a Ramadhan buddy
Encourage each other.. Compete in the akhira!
